1. Simulation, not advice
BrightComb Compound Simulator is a calculation and simulation tool by BrightComb. All results are mathematical projections from the user's own inputs and from historical data. They are not a forecast, not investment advice, not brokerage, not financial analysis within the meaning of the German Securities Institutions Act (WpIG) or Banking Act (KWG), and not tax or legal advice. We do not recommend financial products, providers or investment decisions. The user chooses every parameter. The purpose of the tool is to illustrate how compounding, time, costs, taxes and volatility affect wealth.
2. The past is not the future
Historical returns, volatilities and drawdowns are no indicator of future results. Monte-Carlo simulations produce ranges from random draws of historical data or from distribution assumptions; they can underestimate extreme events. There is no guarantee that a simulated result will occur.
3. Return figures
Returns are shown as compound annual growth rate (CAGR, geometric mean). The CAGR smooths fluctuations and can differ substantially from the arithmetic average return and even more from the return of individual years. The period over which a historical CAGR was calculated strongly influences the result.
4. Simplifications
Taxes, allowances, product costs and inflation are modelled in simplified form (taxation at the end of the horizon, flat rates, no German Vorabpauschale, no church tax, no state taxes, no tax-advantaged accounts). Your actual tax burden may differ substantially. For binding statements consult a tax adviser or a licensed investment adviser.
5. Third-party data
For equity indices, gold and bitcoin we use year-end closing values only (one value per calendar year). These values are publicly known facts; we compile them once a year from publicly available market information and cross-check them against independent public sources. We do not obtain a data feed and do not redistribute third-party price or index data. Macro data (property prices, inflation, policy rates, money supply) comes from FRED of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis with the original sources named there (including BIS, OECD, US Bureau of Labor Statistics, ECB). All data may contain errors. Price indices exclude dividends.
