What is your money from back then worth today?
Everybody knows the sentence: back then you got more for your money. This lesson works out how much more.
A price index measures what one fixed shopping basket costs in different years. Index only means that one year is set to 100 and every other year is measured against it. If the index goes from 100 to 125, the same shopping costs a quarter more.
Move the amount and the starting year. One side shows what your old money buys today, the other what you need today to buy the same things.
